Lake Apopka Fishing Lures
We feel this Jumbo Shrimp is our best saltwater lure. It's four inches long with an extra durable body. Molded into the body is a chamber for a hidden weight. It features eight turned down crawling legs and our special stabilizing airplane tail. There isn't a species of fish in the sea that won't be fooled into thinking that this is a live shrimp. Try reeling in this bait with a natrual slow motion so that it appears to be crawling on it's legs along the bottom.
Our two inch shrimp with ten outstretched legs is a relatively small bait. For this reason we produce them in only the brightest colors. We have the Chartreuse Gold pictured to the right, Opening Night as seen above, a Glow in the Dark version and a Rootbeer Gold. Try these with a jighead and you'll find out how big a catch our Little Shrimp can attract.

Successful saltwater fishing requires two things, very natural looking lures and a fisherman skillful enough to work the line in a way that makes the bait seem alive. Lake Apopka saltwater fishing lures are designed to be seen by fish as natural, once they are underwater. When muted by the blue green of the ocean our "Opening Night" color transforms into a perfect replica of a mature live shrimp body. Our five inch New Penny Super Minnows turn into baby redfish ready to be eaten by a larger fish. Soft plastic Lake Apopka Lures brilliant colors above the water become natural once submerged. In contrast, our Chartreuse Gold Little Shrimp retain over ninety percent of their luminescence under the sea. All of our saltwater fishing lures have hardener added to toughen them up for ocean fishing.

Lake Apopka Saltwater Fishing Lures in Action

Around a month ago, I did something I very seldom do. I hired a fishing guide. Normally, I simply trailer my boat over to the coast, launch into the intercoastal waterway and try my luck where ever the current leads me. But that day I wanted to rely on an expert who knew every nook, cranny and channel.
My guide Capt. Mike picked me up at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Marina (a great place for a burger by the way). Within ten minutes we had traveled up river under a few highway bridges to a point where civilization and million dollar homes along the shore eventually began to thin out. Capt. Mike really knows his fishing because the spot we came to would look like nothing to anyone who hadn't fished it before. We were over an underwater grass point that crept out almost a hundred feet from the coast at a depth of only fifteen feet.
Capt. Mike fishes these points using only gold spoons and an occasional tailless shad. He was sure surprised when I setup six of my Lake Apopka Lures Glow in the Dark two inch shrimp weedless in a trailer rig. After three hours fishing, Mike had caught one small and one medium weight redfish but had managed to snag and lose three gold spoons along the way. My trailer rig caught five good size fish including two redfish on one cast.
Capt. Mike certainly knows the best fishing points on the east coast of Florida, but I like to think I know a thing or two about lures, especially our Lake Apopka brand.
New Penny Super Minnow
This Lake Apopka Lures five inch Super Minnow is a fabulous saltwater bait. It's smooth belly, the color of a bright new penny and it's fire red split tail give it the look of a coral reef dweller. Our minnows wiggle downward in an arc mimicing a small live bait fish darting in and out among the rocks searching for bits of food. Your catch thinks this is a meal that isn't paying attention and moves to attack. All you have to do is pull him in and be ready with the net.
